What we do and why

Ebbets Field Middle School is an international educational mecca.  Ninety percent of our students are immigrants or children of immigrants. We are so rich in diversity.  Our students and faculty hail from the Caribbean (Jamaica, Barbados, Trinidad, Haiti, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, St. Croix, St. Johns, St. Barts); they come from Africa (Ghana, Gabon, Guinea, Angola, Cameroon,  Chad, Sierra Leone); South America (Columbia, Honduras, Guatemala and Mexico); Middle East (Yemen, Sudan, Iraq and Iran) Europe (Spain, Great Britain, Italy.)  We speak English, Spanish, Haitian Creole, Arabic, French, Swahili, Twi, Fulani, Fante, and Urdu. Our school initiatives must meet our students where they are and prepare them for success as quickly as possible so that they can become college and career ready as soon as possible.  With that in mind we offer the following school wide initiatives:
  • Structured and Targeted Academic Enrichment and Intervention:Read 180, Wilson Reading, System 44, Small Group Instruction (1:5 and 1:8) in Mathematics and Literacy.
  • Academic Enrichment:Mouse Squad, Robotics, African Dance; Student Government; Book Clubs, Peer Mediation, Peer Leaders
