New COVID-19 Case on the Jackie Robinson/Ebbets Field Middle School Campus

12/11/2020 10:40 AM

Dear Members of the Ebbets Field Middle School at 46 MCKEEVER PLACE Community:

Today we are writing to inform you that a member on the Jackie Robinson Campus (K320) tested positive for COVID-19. According to health guidelines, your child must stay home for 14 days following the date of possible exposure and should not return to school until 12/26/2020.

You may be contacted by the NYC Test + Trace Corps (T2) with information and updates. We know that this may be stressful, and we are here to support and guide you.

Below you will find guidance that reflects the expertise of the NYC Department of Health & Mental Hygiene (DOHMH), the New York City Department of Education (DOE) and T2.

Here is what to do now:

Keep your child at home

● Until 12/25/2020, your child can leave home only to visit a medical provider, to get a COVID-19 test, or in the event of an emergency. It is important that your child stay home, even if they do not feel sick, to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Remote Learning Expectations

During 100% remote learning, your child is expected to complete all assignments provided by the teacher. At the same time, we recognize that working independently at home is different and difficult for many students, so we want to provide flexibility.

Students and families should check Google Classroom daily for important updates from their teachers.

At-home assignments for the week will be posted in Google Class by Monday morning each week.

At-home assignments for each week should be turned in by 4:00pm each Friday. Assignments will be graded.

During 100% distance learning, your teacher may conduct live classes via Google Meet. Check Google Classroom for your live class schedule.

When signing in for virtual classes or meetings, students are expected to be on time, appropriately dressed, and ready to learn. Please try to reduce background noise and distractions as much as possible.

Technology: Getting a Device and Internet Access

We are committed to making sure that all students can successfully connect to online learning during their at-home learning days.

If your student needs a laptop or tablet, fill out the Device Request Form to reserve your device. Borrowing a device is free! Students in grades K - 3 will receive tablets and students in grades 4-5 will receive laptops.

Borrowed devices should be used for school purposes only and kept in a secure location. Take your device with you on in-school days.

If you are using your own device, make sure it meets the technology requirements for online learning.

If you do not have internet access at home, check the list of service providers furnishing free connection for families earning less than $50,000 per year with students learning at home.

If you are not able to get internet hooked up in your home, your child's teacher will work with you to provide alternative offline assignments.

If you are having trouble connecting to Google Classroom, Google Meet, or any of our online learning resources, contact Mr. Henry for tech support.
